Newsom announces completion of Divisadero street project

Mayor Gavin Newsom couldn’t have asked for better weather on the day he announced the completion of the Divisadero streetscape improvement project and the construction of a parklet.

Standing on the sidewalk outside of Mojo Café, the Mayor bragged about the 109 newly planted trees on the median, 140 trees on sidewalks and the added pedestrian refuges at medians. There are also new lights, new trash receptacles and 86 accessible curb ramps along Divisadero between Geary and Waller.

The project is one of nine total Great Streets Projects. Three have been completed at Divisadero, San Bruno Avenue and Lower Polk Street, and three are in construction at Van Ness, Leland Avenue, Valencia, and three are in design planning at Balboa Street, Cesar Chavez and 19th Avenue.
