New program aims to improve kids' fitness levels 

The FitFun program that encourages kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers to provide high-quality physical activity throughout the school day was started in the Redwood City School District.

The 15 schools, encompassing 6,000 students and 300 teachers, will help improve kids’ fitness levels. According to, 70 percent of district students do not meet state fitness standards. Kaiser Permanente and Mills-Peninsula Health Services are among the program’s sponsors.
