New president elected for board of ed 

The Board of Education on Tuesday elected a new president and vice president.

Commissioners unanimously elected Jane Kim as president, who according to the district is the first Korean American elected to the board in San Francisco.  She is also the former youth program director at the Chinatown Community Development Center and currently works as an attorney with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hydra Mendoza was unanimously elected as vice president. Mendoza has served on the board since 2007, is the education advisor for Mayor Gavin Newsom and the former executive director of Parents for Public Schools.
