New marijuana task force established

In an 8-2 vote Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors gave final approval to legislation that establishes a Medical Cannabis Task Force.

The legislation, introduced by Supervisor David Campos, was opposed by Supervisors Sean Elsbernd and Carmen Chu.

Elsbernd has criticized the proposal for not requiring that the 13-seat task force have a requirement of a balance between those who advocate for medical marijuana or operate dispensaries with residents who live near dispensaries and are concerned about its impacts.
