Sales: Luxe Jewels, a Burlingame direct-sales jewelry company, hired Mike Lohner as CEO. He was president and CEO of Home Interiors.


» Genelabs Technologies Inc. of Redwood City elected Leslie Browne and Matthew Pfeffer to its board of directors. Browne is president and CEO of Pharmacopeia; Pfeffer is SVP and CFO of VaxGen Inc.


» Pacific Gas and Electric Corp. incoming president Thomas King will become chairman of its subsidiary, Northern California utility provider PG&E Co.


» First Republic Bank, a San Francisco company, hired Ray Mack as managing director. He was a VP for Wells Fargo Bank.

» Nick Bennenbroek was hired as head of currency strategy for the foreign exchange division of San Francisco’s Wells Fargo Bank. He was a senior currency strategist at Brown Brothers Harriman in New York.


» San Francisco architecture and engineering firm SmithGroup promoted Joyce Polhamus to VP of its health care and senior living interior architecture and design studios. The firm also hired Diana Kissil, formerly of Sasaki Associates, as director of interior architecture; and hired former Anshen + Allen associate principal Timoteo Hernaez as a project director.


» MetricStream Inc. of Redwood Shores hired Charles Goldenberg as VP for governance, risk and corporate compliance solutions. He was West Coast partner-in-charge for a division of KPMG Consulting.

» Mobile-device entertainment company Limbo 41414 added Richard Dumas as director of product management; he was formerly a director of product management and marketing at Snocap. The company also hired former eBay community and online help head Rina Paguaga as director of international product management, and former Avvenu director of network operations Tracy Strom as director of technical services.

» Dolby Laboratories Inc. promoted Paula Dunn to VP of corporate communications. Prior to joining Dolby, she was senior director of corporate communications for Sybase Inc.

» Redwood City open-source database firm Ingres Corp. elected Steve Smith to its board of directors. He was senior VP of HP Services.
