Financial online personal lending firm Zopa hired Douglas Dolton as global CEO. He headed Chela Education Financing before its sale to Nelnet.

» Leornard Auerbach was named "2006 Small Board Trustee of the Year" by trade publication Fund Directions. He is independent chair of the board of trustees of RS Funds.

» S&Y Management LLC, awealth-management firm in The City, hired Bruce Javer as director of sales of investment management services, and Eric Carter as a VP for sales. Both were VPs at Fisher Investments.

» Menlo Park’s Charles River Ventures hired Saar Gur as principal, and also promoted Susan Wu to that rank. Gur was a co-founder of BrightRoll; Wu was an associate.


» Trellis Bioscience Inc. hired Bruce Keyt as Chief Technology Officer and VP of research. He was VP of research and development at Abmaxis prior to its acquisition by Merck.

» Threshold Pharmaceuticals of Redwood City elected David Hoffman to its board of directors. He is also a board member of DURECT Corp., and was a VP at Alza.

Business services

» Analysis Group, a consultancy, promoted Nicholas Crew to managing principal. He was VP of the San Francisco office.

» Kimco Staffing Services Inc. hired Tom Mangini as regional director for its northern California office. He was VP of sales for Triad.

» Market research firm Vizu Corp. in San Francisco hired Brett Powell as executive VP of business development. He comes from MarketTools.


» Stephani Scott of the Sequoia Healthcare District, Debra Smith of Foster City real estate firm Legacy Partners, Heidi Roizen of Mobius Venture Capital, Heather Meeker of East Palo Alto law firm Greenberg Traurig, Nancy Greenen of law firm Foley & Lardner, Katherine Lutton of Redwood City law firm Fish & Richardson, Teresa Briggs of Deloitte & Touch, Jacqueline Akerblom of Grant Thornton, Marianne O’Connor of Sterling Communications, Lisa Lang of the San Francisco 49ers and Darlene McKinnon of the SBA were recognized as Women of Distinction award finalists, among 27 finalists total. The awards are given by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.


» John Simon was hired as SVP of human resources of Pacific Gas and Electric Corp. and its subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric Co. He comes from Teletech Holdings Inc. PG&E also hired former Vodafone AirTouch VP Edward Salas as SVP of engineering and operations at Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
