Neighbors meeting about grocery expansion

Safeway grocery store representatives will talk about their long-term plans for the Ocean Beach location — including some housing developments on the property — at a Richmond community meeting.

The Ocean Beach Safeway was built in 1971 at the site of the old Playland at the Beach.

Initial talks about the redesign started last year, but then Safeway accumulated more land and is looking for more input.

The quarterly Planning Association for the Richmond meeting is on Jan. 20 at the Richmond Community Center at 251 18th Ave. between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
