National planning figures to discuss public transportation 

Planning officials from across the nation will meet Friday in San Francisco to discuss long-range funding possibilities for public transportation.

The forum, titled “Funding the Transportation System of the Future: What’s Possible in the Current Anti-Tax Climate,” will be held at the Commonwealth Club on 595 Market Street from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

William Millar, president of the American Public Transportation Association, John Horsley, executive director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and California State Sen. Alan Lowenthal will be among the speakers participating in the expert panel.

The event is free, although registration is requested. For more information, visit the Commonwealth Club’s website at www.commonwealthclub.org.
