Nat Ford meets with SFMTA board, no decision made on job status

San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency executive director Nathaniel Ford met with his board of directors on Tuesday to discuss his future with the agency, but no official action was taken regarding his job status.

For the past month, Ford has been the lead candidate for a post at an airport authority in Washington D.C. Last week, the authority unexpectedly decided to delay a decision on the job opening, leaving Ford’s future with the SFMTA in doubt.

Tom Nolan, chair of the SFMTA board, said the two sides had a productive talk on Tuesday, but the meeting did not produce any decisions on Ford’s future. He couldn’t divulge details of the closed-session meeting, but said Ford and the board will meet again next Tuesday to discuss the same topic.

Nolan has said that buying out Ford’s contract for about $390,000 is an option the agency is considering.
