Muni’s on-time performance rate drops

After achieving a high-water mark recently, Muni’s on-time performance rate fell to its lowest level in the last five quarters.

For the first quarter of this fiscal year, which covered July through September 2010, Muni’s vehicles arrived as scheduled 72 percent of the time, a distant drop from the 75 percent mark the agency recorded two quarters prior.

As part of a voter-backed initiative to expand the agency in 1999, Muni has a mandate to record an 85 percent on-time performance rate, a mark that it has never come close to achieving.
