Muni, volunteers prep public on Market Street changes

Market Street is on the verge of looking markedly different for the next six weeks, and city officials are still working on prepping the public for the change.

Traffic signs alerting drivers about mandatory detours, which will flow cars off the thoroughfare, are being erected on Market Street, and Muni officials are maintaining a media presence throughout the day that they hope will keep drivers informed about the changes that lie ahead.

There are also volunteers from the mid-Market area handing out information pamphlets to passersby.

“We want to let people know that this is the first part of a broader effort to remake Market Street,” said Judson True, spokesman for Muni. “It’s our job to keep the public informed.”
