Muni repair project runs into snag

A San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency track improvement project will take longer than expected at one intersection in The City, due to a problem with the concrete used in the project, a Muni spokesman said Sunday.

The intersection of Judah Street and 19th Avenue is expected to open by 5 a.m. today as planned, but the intersection of Judah Street and Sunset Boulevard will be delayed until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Muni spokesman Judson True said.

The delay is due to concrete that is not hardening as quickly as planned, True said. The MTA is working with the contractor to investigate the problem, and the concrete is being tested to ensure that it is safe for operation in the light-rail system.

Buses will run between 22nd Avenue and the beach until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
