Muni fare gate construction continues this week at Castro Station

Muni’s ongoing fare gate replacement program will continue this week at the Castro Station.

The construction, aimed at making Muni more streamlined with the Clipper card, the region’s multiagency transit card, has already occurred in several stations, including Montgomery and Powell Street stations.

Work on the Castro Station fare gate replacement begins Tuesday and will last through Friday. As a result, some entrance points at the station may be off limits. Despite the construction, Muni is reminding passengers to always have proof of payment on them, as fare evasion citations can carry a $75 fine.
