Muni trains experienced a 65-minute delay this afternoon after police were called to remove a man from the tracks at the Powell station.

Train service resumed at roughly 1:30 p.m. after police finished their investigation. Lt. Joe Engler said it’s unclear how the man ended up on the tracks, but the incident doesn’t appear to be a crime.

“It’s clear from our investigation that no one else was involved,” he said.

Muni shut down its entire system at approximately 12:25 p.m. after police received word that a man was on tracks at the Powell Station. Engler said his emergency response team happened to be patrolling the station, which shorted the  delay.

“It was just good timing,” he said. “An emergency got called in and we were able to get everybody rolling.”

Engler said the man is currently being treated in the hospital.
