Movoto releases September housing statistics

Redwood City real estate web site Movoto.com released housing market statistics this week for September showing an increase in the number of homes for sale in San Francisco and San Mateo County from August and small increases in the average listing price of homes.

The number of homes listed in San Francisco rose from 1,336 to 1,673, a 25.2 percent increase, while in San Mateo County the number rose from 2,463 to 2,633, a 6.9 percent increase.

Average list price increased 2.4 percent in San Francisco from $1,107,273 to $1,133,328 and 0.4 percent in San Mateo County from $1,062,069 to $1,066,470. Both counties defied a broader trend seen in other counties of declining prices from August to September, particularly south of San Jose.
