Motown rules at Jewish Community Center of San Francisco 

Jewish Community Center of San Francisco Showcase: On Thursday, the California Street facility was transformed into an oldies party for a benefit event featuring an appearance by The Temptations. Proceeds will fund the JCCSF’s continuing educational, recreational, cultural and community programs.  

Finding a cure for Coats

Jack McGovern Coats Disease Foundation benefit: On May 10, Debby and Peter Magowan opened their home and Tyson Harper assisted in presenting a fundraiser for the foundation established in 2008 by Tina and Ed McGovern, whose teen son, Jack, was diagnosed with the rare, potentially blinding disease when he was 11. The group’s goal is to raise awareness and find a cure.

Fashion forward for SF Ballet

San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show: Saks Fifth Avenue and the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary presented pieces by guest designer Giambattista Valli at its 30th show, a benefit for The City’s venerable dance company. Held May 10 in the Grand Ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel, the event, chaired by Tanya Powell, featured an appearance by Valli and his ready-to-wear collection.
