Motorcyclist thrown off I-80 identified

The San Francisco medical examiner's office was able to identify the victim of an early morning crash on Interstate 80 on Thursday.

Douglas Mendoza, a 27-year-old San Francisco resident, was killed after his blue Suzuki GSX-R 750 motorcycle hit the south bridge rail and concrete wall west of Seventh Street about 3:20 a.m. while traveling east on the highway, the California Highway Patrol said.

When the bike hit the rail, Mendoza was thrown off and over the rail. The CHP said he struck a fence that bordered Brannan Street below the highway. Mendoza died at the scene, according to the CHP.
