Moses leads No. 13 Purdue women over Northwestern

Courtney Moses scored a career-high 29 points and KK Houser added 21 to help No. 13 Purdue win its 11th in a row, 80-70 over Northwestern on Thursday night.

The Big Ten's only unbeaten women's team, the Boilermakers (18-3, 8-0) never trailed after Houser's baseline 3 pointer opened a 28-26 lead with 6:20 left in the first half.

Dannielle Diamant scored 21 points, and Morgan Jones and Kendall Hackney each had 13 for the Wildcats, losers of four of their last five.

Northwestern (12-9, 2-6) rallied from a 13 point deficit to make it 70-64 with 1:31 to play but never got closer.

Purdue outscored Northwestern 11-3 in final 3:31 of the first half, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Moses, to open a 43-33 halftime lead.

Moses, whose previous career high was 26 points against Texas A & M in 2010, made all 14 of her free throws. The Boilermakers were 28-for-30 from the line, offsetting their 24-for-63 effort (38.1 percent) from the field.

Hackney became Northwestern's 14th player with 1,000 or more points when she made a turnaround jumper early in the game. She now has 1,011 for her career.

Purdue scoring leader Brittany Rayburn fell short in her bid to reach 1,600 career points. She needed 11 for the milestone and scored just four.
