Morning stock check: Yahoo, VMWare down 

Local internet juggernaut Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) is down in early morning trading with shares down more than 3.5 percent. VMWare, Inc, (VMW), a Palo Alto-based information technology solutions company, is also down more than three percent this morning.

On the flipside, Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) out of Santa Clara is up more than a percentage point with Linear Technology Corp. (LLTC), a Milpitas circuit design company, up more than one percent as well. Also trading up is Agilent Technologies Inc. (A), Verisign, Inc. (VRSN) and Salesforce.com, Inc. (CRM).

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (JAVA) is trading at the highest volume with 18.26 million shares changing hands. Intel Corp. (INTC) and Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) are seeing 15.52 million and 12.9 million shares traded, respectively.

After initially trending down, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending up this morning. The Dow is, however, still down more than 60 points today.

In other financial news, Delta Airlines' profit more than quadrupled with gains in sales, according to Bloomberg News. Scripps also has plans to split into two companies, according to Smartmoney.com.
