Morning stock check: VMware up, McAfee down 

Shares of Palo Alto's VMware, Inc. (VMW), an information technology solutions company, are up more than 8 percent in early trading this morning. Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (ISRG) continues to do well in early trading, trending up more than 4 percent per share.

Not doing as well in trading this morning are two software security companies: Symantec Corp. (SYMC) and McAfee, Inc. (MFE). Symantec is down more than 12 percent per share and McAfee is down more than 3 percent. Other companies trading down are: Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (CDNS) and Lam Research Corp. (LRCX).

BEA Systems, Inc. (BEAS) is seeing the highest volume traded with 19.55 million shares changing hands. Symantec is second behinds BEA Systems this morning with more than 16 million shares traded already today.

Overall, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is hovering around its opening mark of 13,677.85 this morning.

In other stock news, Symantec profits dropped 60 percent, according to Reuters. BEA Systems said it would be willing to discuss its sale to Oracle Corp. (ORCL), according to the Associated Press.
