Morning stock check: VMware up, Adobe Systems down 

Most local companies are trading positively this morning, with Palo Alto-based IT solutions company VMware, Inc. (VMW) leading the way with shares up more than 7 percent. Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK), a San Rafael design software company, and Apple Inc. (AAPL) are also both up more than 6 percent per share this morning.

Of the few companies not performing well in early trading, Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE), a software company based out of San Jose, is down around 5 percent per share, and Intuit Inc. (INTU) — a day after performing well early — is down more than 2 percent per share in early trading.

Apple leads the way in volume with more than 19 million share changing hands this morning. Intel Corp. (INTC) also is posting a high volume of more than 14 million shares.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending up more than 100 points this morning.

In other stock news, Apple and China Mobile are discussing a China iPhone, according to The Associated Press. Genentech, Inc. (DNA) is unlikely to buy the full rights of cancer drug Rituxan, according to Reuters.
