Morning stock check: Tech companies post modest gains 

Local computer technology companies are posting small gains in early trading this morning. Sun Microsystems, Inc. (JAVA) is trending up near 2 percent per share while Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) and Symantec Corp. (SYMC) are hovering around above a 1 percent gain.

Trending down this morning are Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) and Verisign, Inc. (VRSN), both of which are down more than 2.5 percent already.

Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) is trading at the highest volume with more than 15 million shares changing hands, but it is down nearly 1 percent per share. More than 13 million shares of Intel Corp. (INTC) have been traded this morning, and shares of Intel are up nearly a half-percent.

Overall, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending up after an initial dip.

In other stock news, Adobe debuted new Flash products, according to eWeek.com, and Klausner Technologies Inc. filed a $360 million lawsuit against Apple Inc. (AAPL) over voicemail patents with Apple's iPhone, according to Reuters.
