Morning stock check: SunPower up, Yahoo down 

SunPower Corp. (SPWR), after opening the week trending down, is off to a quick start this morning with shares up more than 14 percent in early trading. Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (ISRG), a surgical systems company, is up by about 5 percent per share. VMware, Inc. (VMW) and Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) are also slightly up.

Local tech company Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) and Intuit Inc. (INTU) are down this morning by more than 2 percent per share.

Intel Corp. (INTC) is trading at the highest volume of local companies, with more than 20 million shares changing hands. Apple Inc. (AAPL) is trading at more than 18 million in volume.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending down after starting out up in early trading this morning.

In other stocks news, Chevron Corp. (CVX) will pay $30 million to settle the oil-for-food case brought against it, according to the Wall Street Journal. Verisign Inc. (VRSN) will focus on Internet infrastructure operations, reports CNNMoney.com.
