Morning stock check: SunPower rising, VMware falling

With a jump in value of more than 6 percent, SunPower Corporation (SPWR) came back from the Thanksgiving holiday strongest on early Monday trading. Verisign, Inc. (VRSN) and McAfee, Inc. (MFE) were both up approximately 2.5 percent.

Mirroring the increases, VMware, Inc. (VMW) outpaced all value drops by falling approximately 7.25 percent, with Franklin Resources, Inc. (BEN) and The Charles Schwab Corporation (SCHW) dropped by 2.75 and 2.25 percent respectively.

Continuing their high volume transactions from last week, Apple Inc. (AAPL), Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) and Intel Corporation (INTC) all moved more than 11 million units, with Apple leading the pack with almost 13 million. Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) was fourth in volume trades, moving 6.48 million.

The largely mythological "Cyber Monday," phenomenon — when shoppers supposedly hit online stores as hard as they hit malls on "Black Friday," was behind trading increases for major online shopping hubs Amazon.com (AMZN) and eBay Inc. (EBAY) according to Marketwatch.com. The stock market as a whole benefited from the after-Thanksgiving shopping rush. Joining Amazon.com and eBay.com in trading increases was Overstock.com (OSTK) with trading up nearly 3 percent.

And according to Bloomberg.com, Cisco Systems Inc. fired one of its Brazilian officials for "[failing] to comply with Cisco’s business code of conduct." The firing followed government raids of Cisco offices in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after tips of suspected import fraud.
