Morning stock check: Juniper up, Genentech down 

Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR), a Sunnyvale-based network solutions company, leads local companies to open this week in trading with its shares trending up close to 2.5 percent in early trading. Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), a graphics processor techonology company out of Santa Clara, is also up this morning more than 2 percent.

Trending down this morning is Genentech, Inc. (DNA), the biotechnology industry giant, which is down close to 3 percent per share. Salesforce.com (CRM) and Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS) are also down mroe than 2 percent during trading to start the week.

Intel Corp. (INTC) and Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) are trading at the highest volumes so far this morning, with 14.77 million and 12.38 million shares changing hands, respectively.

Overall, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending up after an initial drop.

In other stock news, Google Inc. (GOOG) may bid to lose when the federal government begins auctioning wireless airwaves in January, according to Bloomberg. Also, Symantec Corp. (SYMC) borrowed $200 million to help pay for its purchase of data-loss prevention firm Vontu Inc., according to the Associated Press.
