Morning stock check: Gap up, McAfee down 

In early trading this morning, National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM) is leading the way with shares up more than 3 percent. The Gap Inc. (GPS) and SunPower Corp. (SPWR) are also trending up with share of both companies up more than 2 percent.

McAfee, Inc. (MFE), Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), and SanDisk Corp. (SNDK) are all trending down more than 2 percent this morning. Foster City-based Gilead Sciences, Inc. (GILD) is also down around 2 percent.

Intel Corp. (INTC) is trading at the highest volume this morning with nearly 12 million shares changing hands. Intel stock is down nearly 1 percent per share. Also trading at a high volume are Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO) and Apple Inc. (AAPL).

Overall, the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index is trending down this morning but by a very slim margin.

In other stock news, National Semiconductor Corp. posted a lower quarterly profit and forecast a sequential decline in current sales, according to Reuters. SunPower signed a five-year agreement with Jiawei SolarChina Co. Ltd. to obtain a supply of silicon ingots and wafers, according to CNNMoney.com.
