More time for public comments at rec and park

Now you’ll have more than the two-minute public comment window at the twice-monthly Recreation and Park Commission meetings to give park officials your counsel.

The seven commissioners have agreed to meet with residents at four informal meetings a year outside of their regularly scheduled ones on the first and third Thursdays of every month.

Commissioner Gloria Bonilla said at their most recent meeting that the department did have an outreach issue and she looks forward to hearing more from the public.

The idea was also generated with help from nonprofit Neighborhood Parks Council, who will work with commissioners on getting the word out.
