More than 4,000 PG&E customers briefly without power

More than 4,000 PG&E customers in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill and Bayview neighborhoods were without power Sunday, but power has since been restored to the majority of the customers, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at 3:43 p.m. and affected 4,745 customers in the city’s Potrero Hill, Bayview and Bernal Heights neighborhoods, PG&E spokeswoman Cindy Pollard said.

Power was restored to all but 50 customers as of 5:50 p.m., Pollard said. There is no estimate for when power for the remaining 50 customers will be restored.

The outage was caused by equipment failure in the area, but she did not know what specific piece of equipment had failed.
