More than 40 displaced in Mission fire

More than 40 people were displaced following a three-alarm fire Saturday in San Francisco's Mission District, a San Francisco firefighter said.

The fire at 66 Rondel Place was reported at 6:08 p.m. when a witness saw smoke coming from the three-story house, said the firefighter, who declined to give his name. The third alarm was issued at 6:27 p.m. and the blaze was controlled by 6:50 p.m.

The fire caused damage to surrounding buildings at 64 and 72 Rondel Place and 571 and 577 Valencia St., the firefighter said.

About 110 firefighters responded to the scene. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries but no other injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was called to help 43 people who were displaced by the blaze, the firefighter said.

The fire remains under investigation.
