More hand-wielding bandits

In what could be a trend among less-strapped thieves, two more muggers who faked having a gun fled with cash Sunday, police said.

In the first case, which happened just after midnight in the 600 block of Hyde Street, a black man in his 30s approached a 22-year-old woman, simulated a gun and demanded her money, police said.

After she gave him cash, the thug patted her down and took her cell phone, police said.

The second case happened at 4:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of Market Street. A black man in his 20s entered a restaurant with his shirt draped over his left hand to simulate a firearm.

He ordered the 23-year-old man behind the counter to open the register, then ordered him to the back of the restaurant, cops said.

The hand-wielding bandit fled with cash, police said.

There were no injuries in either crime and no arrests made, cops said.
