Mom fights on to find person who killed son on SF street

  • Aubrey Abrakasa

Six years after a popular teenager was shot dead in the North of the Panhandle neighborhood, the killer remains at large.

To commemorate the anniversary of 17-year-old Aubrey Abrakasa’s death, his still-grieving mother, Paulette Brown, plans to pass out fliers today about the unsolved case at the intersection of Grove and Baker streets. She will pass the fliers out at 3:14 p.m., the exact time six years ago when her son was gunned down.

Officers will join Brown and answer any questions from the public, police said in a statement Monday.

According to news reports at the time, Abrakasa might have been killed by gang members after he intervened in a fight at a Bernal Heights gym. But Abrakasa was a “popular” high school basketball player who did not have time for gangs and had no criminal background, his mother and police say.
