Swarms of blood-thirsty gang thugs prowled the Mid-Market and Tenderloin districts with knives Wednesday night, leading to two stabbings within a 20-minute period.

At about 9:10 p.m., police said, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the head and arm after being surrounded by 15 gang bangers at O’Farrell and Jones streets.

The man was reportedly standing at the corner when the pack of punks approached him and asked his about his gang affiliation. The victim was stabbed after denying being in a gang, police said, and the mob of thugs fled southbound on Jones Street, police said.

The 22-year-old was transported to the hospital with injuries that were reportedly not life threatening, police said.

About 20 minute later, an 18-year-old man was reportedly approached by three men at Sixth and Market streets and asked about his gang affiliation. Again, after denying any connection to gangs the man was beaten and stabbed in the back.

He was also transported to the hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

No arrests have been reported in either incident. It was not immediately known whether the attacks were connected.
