Missing teen found with sex offender at Fisherman's Wharf

A 15-year-old Sacramento girl is back home today after being located at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Saturday evening with a registered sex-offender whom she met on a telephone party line, San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens said today.

Anthony Butler, 31, was booked into San Francisco County Jail Saturday on two counts of sex with a minor, Gittens said. He was arrested around 5:30 p.m. near the corner of Jones and Beach streets after the victim's uncle spotted the two in the area.

According to Sacramento police Officer Konrad VonSchoech, the victim's family received information Saturday that she was in the San Francisco area. Her uncle was near Fisherman's Wharf posting flyers with her picture when he spotted the pair. According to Gittens, the victim's uncle contacted San Francisco police, who arrived to arrest Butler and to take the victim into custody.

The victim was reported missing from her south Sacramento home on Thursday, VonSchoech said. Her family knew that she had left on her own free will with a "questionable individual'' that she had met online. Both the Sacramento and San Francisco police were investigating the incident when the pair was found.

After being taken in to custody by police, the victim's father took her back to Sacramento,VonSchoech said.
