Authorities are probing the death of a Daly City man whose body was found in San Francisco’s Lake Merced Friday after he was reported missing by his family the previous day.

Jaeson Chon, 66, went missing from his home in the Westlake neighborhood at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday, according to Daly City police. Cops conducted an extensive search of the area into the night and morning, and found Chon’s body in the water at Lake Merced at about 2:10 p.m. Friday.

Chon, who was married and moved to Daly City last June from the South Bay, had suffered a stroke and could not speak or write, Daly City police Lt. David Mackriss said. Chon enjoyed walking around Lake Merced, he said.

An official cause of death has not yet been determined, Mackriss said.

“We have no information that there was any suspicious circumstance involved at all,” he said.

San Francisco police and the medical examiner’s office are conducting an investigation.
