Mirkarimi didn't want board prez job

Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, once the progressive darling of the city, refused to accept the nomination for Board of Supervisors president Saturday during the first round of nominations.

Mirkarimi who helped run a highly successful campaign for Matt Gonzalez when he ran against Gavin newsom for mayor, is in the last years of his tenure on the board. With the politicalization surrounding the interim mayor and the wheeling and dealing of recent days, perhaps Mirkarimi wanted to avoid the embarrassing cat fight that will ensue over president votes.
