Millbrae to swear in new postmaster

Millbrae — A woman who began her career with the U.S. Postal Service as a San Francisco letter carrier in 1993 will be sworn in as Millbrae postmaster today.

Katherine Pabalan will be responsible for nearly 9,000 deliveries on 21 routes. "I am really happy to have selected Kay to be postmaster of this community," Manager of Post Operations Lito Sajonas said in a release. "She has worked very hard and I have every confidence she will do a great job for Millbrae."

Pabalan has advanced her career through the Postal Service’s Associate Supervisor Program. She has also worked in customer service in Menlo Park, Daly City and, most recently, Millbrae.

She attended college in the Philippines, where she studied business administration, banking and finance.

The ceremony will be officiated by Sajonas at the Millbrae post office on 501 Broadway at 11:30 a.m.
