Michela Alioto-Pier explains run for mayor

Former District 2 Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier is officially kicking off her run for mayor March 3 at her family-owned restaurant in Fisherman’s Wharf, Alioto’s.

Alioto-Pier filed to run for mayor Monday

She issued a statement Friday explaining why she is running:

“I’m running for Mayor because I want all children to find the same opportunities for education, careers and community that five generations of my family have found in San Francisco,” she said. “We need city government to be a little less about the personalities in City Hall, and lot more about the people it serves. We need a Mayor who wants to build consensus, not score points against political opponents.”

Alioto-Pier enters the race as other candidates have already raised in excess of $200,000.
