How does Plum District work? We try to focus on items that make life easier and more enjoyable for moms. Vendors either approach us or we get ones suggested by moms, and the idea is to offer mothers discounts on some great products, with the promise that vendors will get a steady stream of business.

What deals are typically featured on the website? We have to make sure that the quality of products fits the ideals of our customers. Right now, we have deals on everything from a wine-tasting package to groceries to babysitters.

How did you guys come up with the name? Well, anyone with a website will tell you that it’s a long and arduous process to check and see if your proposed name has already been taken. A “plum” deal is nice, and people love the fruit. The other piece we liked was the district part, because it gave the sense of community.

Currently, Plum District is based in San Francisco. Any plans for expansion? Certainly. We’re in San Francisco now, but we’re rolling out to the Peninsula and the East Bay very soon.
