Mayor joins kids on 'walking school bus'

Mayor Barbara Pierce will join elementary school students in a "walking school bus" this morning to emphasize the importance of health, safety and fighting pollution, according to Redwood City officials.

As part of "International Walk to School Week," Pierce will join children for part of their walk to Roy Cloud Elementary School.

"International Walk to School Week'' is designed to encourage children to safely walk and bike to school, promoting physical activity and reducing traffic congestion and pollution. The event also aims to build relationships between neighbors who join in by escorting their children to school.

The "walking school bus" event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Eden Bower Lane and Lonesome Pine Road.
