Maxwell to miss board meeting for China trip

At least one supervisor won’t be on hand Tuesday for the Board of Supervisors' vote on the controversial appeals of the environmental review for the 555 Washington St. development, one of the most politically charged construction projects in recent years.

Supervisor Sophie Maxwell is traveling to China on a San Francisco Chamber of Commerce-hosted trip. But without her, the board is still expected to vote on the appeals. It takes six votes to uphold an appeal.

Details about the trip: “Visit Tian An Men Square, the largest square in the world, in Beijing, take a bus excursion to the Great Wall, visit the centuries old Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou and many more memorable and historical sights.”
