Market close: Apple, VMWare rebound 

Bay Area tech companies benefited from a rebound in technology shares, aided by news that Apple (APPL) might send its iPhone to China, according to Reuters.

As the Dow industrial index surged almost 320 points and Nasdaq gained nearly 90 points, Apple climbed more than 16 points (10.35 percent) to close at 169.97.

VMWare (VMW) also enjoyed a comeback, topping Bay Area companies tracked by the Examiner with a rise of almost 10 points (more than 12 percent) to close at 90.26.

Meanwhile, Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) lost 1.33 points (3.15 percent) to close at 40.86 and SunPower (SPWR) stopped its precipitous skid but did continue to fall, dropping 1.44 points (1.33 percent) to close at 108.44.
