Marathon, festivals close streets, alter Muni routes 

A marathon, music festival and street fair will make for a busy weekend in San Francisco, resulting in several street closures and Muni-line alterations.

The San Francisco Marathon will kick off at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, with runners traversing The Embarcadero through the Marina district and onto the Golden Gate Bridge before looping back through Golden Gate Park and the South of Market area, finishing near AT&T Park.

As a result, The Embarcadero northbound between Third Street and Broadway will be shut down to traffic from midnight to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Embarcadero southbound from Harrison Street to Broadway also will be shut down. There will be some lane closures on the Golden Gate Bridge from 6 to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Several city streets will close at various other times during the race (information on closures can be found at, and the 23-Muni bus line, five light-rail lines and the F-Market streetcar line will be diverted around the race. More information about the Muni changes can be found at

Also happening Sunday is the All Shook Down Music Festival in North Beach and the Up Your Alley street fair on Folsom Street. Portions of Grant Avenue and Green Street will be closed from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday for the music festival, and sections of Folsom, 10th and Dore streets will be closed for the street fair.
