Man's plan to rob Taco Bell with fake handgun falls apart

This crook may have been trying to “Live Mas” but his attempted robbery of a Taco Bell with a fake gun was just plain loco.

A man was foiled in his attempt to rob a Financial District Taco Bell on Tuesday, police said, when an employee crushed the fake handgun the crook used.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, walked into the Taco Bell on Drumm Street near California Street about 8:15 p.m. with a fake handgun, police said. He pointed it at a customer in line and told the person to get to the ground, police said. He then jumped over the counter and pointed the gun at a 29-year-old male employee.

The employee grabbed the fake handgun, which fell apart in his hands -- like a broken taco shell.

Seeing his plan falling apart before his eyes, the would-be crook fled the scene westbound on California Street.

No arrest has been made.
