Man's Haight-Ashbury home burglarized

A man realized his Haight-Ashbury home was burglarized after a neighbor found the victim's suitcase a block away on Monday, police said Thursday.

The 34-year-old victim took out his garbage about 6 p.m. in the 1400 block of Frederick Street near Masonic Avenue, police said.

About three and half hours later, he received a phone call stating that his suitcase, which had the victim's nametag on it, had been found about a block away, police said.

When he went out to retrieve the suitcase, he saw that his garage door was open and that his car had been rummaged through and a jacket was missing, police said. Then he saw that the remote control to his garage door opener was on his neighbor's steps.

There are no known suspects in the burglary.
