Could it be a case of corporate espionage?

A man's vehicle was burglarized in the South of Market area over the weekend, police Officer Albie Esparza said, and the only thing reported missing was a "health wristband prototype."

The 34-year-old victim parked his car in the 1000 block of Mission Street on Saturday about 9:30 p.m., Esparza said. When he returned at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, he noticed his rear passenger window was smashed and the prototype was gone.

There were no known suspects as of Tuesday.

As to whether it was corporate espionage, the suspect "probably doesn't even know what it is," Esparza said. The wristband was a type of technological device. Its value was yet to be determined.
