Man with pitiful pooch robs woman who only tried to help

No good deed goes unpunished.

A woman who offered a man money because she felt bad for his dog was then robbed at gunpoint by the man on The Embarcadero on Wednesday, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was in the area of Folsom Street and The Embarcadero about 7:20 p.m. when she saw the man and the dog and reportedly gave the man money to care for the dog, police said.

The man, who appeared to be in his 30s, lifted up his shirt and showed the woman a gun before demanding more cash and the victim's ring and watch, police said.

The crook then fled and no arrest was made.
