Man who wanted to buy car robbed of cash in the Mission

A man who thought he was buying a car literally got ripped off by the so-called seller, police said.

The 34-year-old victim intended to buy a car from a man who appeared to be in his 40s, police said. The suspect was reportedly driving the victim to the car about 9 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect pulled over in the area of 25th and Harrison streets.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and demanded the victim’s cash, police said.

The victim handed over his backpack, which had the cash for the car in it, and the suspect fled the scene.

No arrest has been made.
