A man who groped a woman in a public bathing facility at a Redwood City boatyard was slapped with 120 days in county jail on Monday.

John Mitchel Blake, 57, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of false imprisonment and lewd public conduct for the disturbing shower acts of July 27, 2010.

The woman was showering at the facility at Pete’s Harbor Boat Yard when Blake, who is also a resident of the boatyard, entered. He exposed himself, groped the victim and made sexual comments, according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

The victim escaped and fetched help from a friend, Wagstaffe said. Blake was arrested later the same day.

On Monday, Blake was sentenced to 120 days in jail, with 30 days credit for time served, and was placed on two years probation, Wagstaffe said. He has also been ordered to stay 25 yards away from the victim’s boat and the shower facilities, he said.

Blake has been out of custody on $50,000 bail.
