Man sucker punched, knocked out in the Mission

A man was knocked out by another man for no apparent reason in the Mission district Wednesday, police said.

The 43-year-old victim was in the area of 22nd and Capp streets about 11:20 p.m. when another man came up and punched him in the face, police said.

The punch caused the victim to fall backward and strike his head against a wall, which knocked him unconscious, police said.

The thug fled, police said, and a detailed description of him was not provided to police.

The victim sustained some swelling over his eye and a bloody nose.
