Man struck by car in Richmond district fighting for his life

A 47-year-old man was fighting for his life after an out-of-control car hopped a curb and pinned him to a building wall in the Inner Richmond district Wednesday morning, police said.

The driver of the vehicle mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal while parking in the 4300 block of Geary Boulevard around 10:15 a.m., causing the horrific accident that sent the man to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver has not been slapped with charges in what appears to have been a terrible mistake, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
